An error occurred while saving the comment Art Bryman commentedThis would be such a time-saver!!! I really hope an upcoming release focuses on fixing the user experience - merging addresses, merging records, moving first name to nickname, sorting profiles, etc.

An error occurred while saving the comment Art Bryman commentedYou don't need to stop an import, however, to launch another Raiser's Edge instance. In Windows 7 and up, even while the import is running, right-click on the RE icon in the taskbar, and left-click "Raiser's Edge" in the menu that pops up. A new instance of Raiser's Edge will open. This will take up an additional RE license, so it may not be advisable if you run out of licenses often. This will work with all other programs - Office, browsers, etc.
I will second the request for a graceful import shutdown, before the import is complete. I've been working on a multi-thousand record import. It would be nice to stop it, so that it generates an exceptions file with all of the unimported rows, if unexpected maintenance is announced that will disrupt my network connection.
Another taskbar tip - turn off combining taskbar buttons, to avoid having to hover over the RE icon to switch between open windows. Right-click on Start button, left-click on properties, go to the Taskbar menu, and change "Taskbar buttons" to "Never combine".

Hi –
We are currently evaluating how we can improve the experience and workflow around multiple pass imports. We would like to have a conversation to better understand your needs, what scenarios required multiple pass imports, and other pain points. You will have the opportunity interact with prototypes and shape the user experience for this feature. If you would like to talk with our Product Development team about this, please email: darinc@omaticsoftware.comThanks,

An error occurred while saving the comment Art Bryman commentedThis would be really useful when we import a file where some or all records are individuals with a business address. The ability to import a "business" for an individual, without having to map all of the fields for an organization relationship, would take care of this issue as well.

An error occurred while saving the comment Art Bryman commentedI agree! Whenever we import constituents from a form that collects names and emails, we need to know if the addresses already have that email address, so we can choose to update or ignore an address.

An error occurred while saving the comment Art Bryman commentedWe need this functionality for the opposite reason - we need to EXCLUDE matches where the birth date does NOT match. We have many records where the donor does not give us a suffix, but parent and child have the same name, address, and email, and the DOB is the only difference.
Can"birth date" can be added to "Auto-pick exclusions"? -

I second this suggestion. This applies to first names and nicknames, and last names and aliases. This is what I would propose: in the field comparison window that pops up, put a button to the right of the first name field that says "->Nickname" (and force nickname to always show up on this screen). Also, put a button to the right of the last name field, that says "->Alias", to move the last name to Alias. In the profile configuration, there would be a setting for which Alias type to use.
